The study of how the body affects a drug or substance over time, encompassing absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME). Pharmacokinetics determines the concentration-time profile of a compound in the body and is essential for understanding dosing intervals, onset of action, and duration of effect. Peptide pharmacokinetics are particularly influenced by route of administration and susceptibility to enzymatic degradation.
