Adipotide

Adipotide is a peptidomimetic designed to induce apoptosis in the blood vessels of adipose tissue, cutting off blood supply to fat cells. It showed promising results in primate studies but human development appears to have stalled. Associated with significant safety concerns.

• Subcutaneous — standard range 0.43 mg/kg, Once daily. Barnhart et al. (Sci Transl Med, 2011) in spontaneously obese rhesus macaques: dose-finding used escalating SC doses 0.10 → 0.25 → 0.43 → 0.75 mg/kg; fixed-dose efficacy used 0.43 mg/kg SC daily for 28 days with recovery follow-up. Dose-dependent reversible renal proximal-tubule effects reported. Human clinical development did not yield a published approved dosing regimen; ranges above are primate research, not human standards.

No published human plasma half-life. Primate and rodent studies report daily SC dosing over multi-week courses; formal PK t½ for adipotide is not the focus of the key Science Translational Medicine primate report.
