Clinical Trial Phase I

The first stage of human testing for a new compound, primarily focused on safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics. Phase I trials typically involve a small group of 20-100 healthy volunteers and seek to establish safe dosing ranges, identify side effects, and characterize how the compound is absorbed and metabolized. Approximately 70% of compounds move from Phase I to Phase II.
