Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a novel dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Approved by the FDA in 2022 for T2DM and 2023 for obesity, it represents the first dual incretin therapy. The SURPASS clinical program demonstrated superior glycemic control and weight loss compared to semaglutide in head-to-head trials.
