Agonist

A molecule that binds to a receptor and activates it, producing a biological response. Full agonists produce the maximum possible response at a receptor, while partial agonists produce a submaximal response even at full receptor occupancy. Many research peptides function as receptor agonists, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide) and ghrelin receptor agonists (ipamorelin).
